Denver Immigrants Spurn City Shelters, Demand Catered Food and Legal Aid

A gathering of undocumented immigrants in Denver, Colorado, currently residing under a bridge and near railway lines, have firmly refused to leave their tented encampment for city-funded migrant shelters. This decision holds until Mayor Mike Johnston, a Democrat, acquiesces to a list of 13 requirements set out by the group.
The Denver Human Services Department is striving to facilitate their move into the city’s migrant shelters. Meanwhile, the immigrants are putting pressure on the city to agree to several conditions for the inhabitants of the shelters.
Among these conditions, the demand that residents be allowed to cook their own meals is quite noteworthy. The group is seeking “culturally appropriate ingredients provided by the City,” including a provision for free consultations with an immigration lawyer.
“[T]he City will provide on-going legal support in the form of immigration document clinics & including transportation to relevant court dates,” a demand explicitly states.
Jon Ewing, a Denver Human Services executive, expressed the city’s concern about the immigrants residing in the encampment, noting exposure to the elements as a potential risk.
“We’ve been offering time and shelter, basically just trying to get families to leave that camp and come inside,” he said. “Which comes with three square meals a day. You can cook your own if you like to.”
In contrast, V Reeves, an advocate for the migrants, argues that the cities shelters are lacking in food provisions and claims that the food that is offered is often “spoiled.”
“There have been so many complaints about the food being spoiled or not being enough and malnutrition amongst children,” Reeves declared.
Reeves also backed the migrants’ demand for “immigration document support” from the city, arguing that it’s “incredibly necessary for them to be able to navigate the bureaucracy around these systems.”
Denver, which identifies itself as a “sanctuary city,” announced budget cuts last month to the police, sheriff, and fire departments. These reductions aim to allocate more funding for undocumented immigrants. The city now finds itself in a struggle, trying to shelter and care for an influx of around 40,000 migrants who’ve arrived in the recent months.
According to a poll released last month, Colorado voters voiced their dissatisfaction with the ongoing immigration issue, which has escalated under the current presidential administration. The poll indicates immigration as the most pressing issue facing the nation leading up to the 2024 election.

I had always hoped to see them shot on the 6PM News Hour, but I’ll go for deporting ALL of them if that’s the best we can do. It’s an invasion, after all.

Stupidity by the Denver peoples representative -wasting City funds on illegal aliens while their own citizens suffer. Beyond acceptable -deport the bunch of ingrates and deselect the representatives -sack the administration .

Instead of the tax payers picking up the tab how about the NGO’s, who brought them here and gave them their food, new clothes and transportation etc to get them here, continue to pay their bills?

If they won’t re-locate to the facilities being offered then they shouldn’t be afforded all the demands they are asking for. And they should be sent home where they can get the food they want and maybe the services they want.

Only fools or criminals eould put up with illegal criminals demands. Heard them where you want them or ship them back to their countries where they belong. Anyone who supports their bullshit demands should be forced to foot the bill. The only truth is THEY ATE ILLEGALLY HERE AND HAVE NO RIGHT TO MAKE ANY DEMAND TO AMERICA PERIOD.

Round them up and ship them out! When the criminals start making demands it’s time for them to go! They were not invited except by CRAZY HOW who doesn’t even know what day it is so they certainly not guest so toss them out and end the problem, reduce crime,save money and cleanup your city! Looks like a win/win to me!

Here we have foriegn nationals who broke our laws by entering our country illegally. In other words, they are criminal foriegn nationals who are making demands that they are not entitled to! Forget the expense of flying them back to their country of origin and send them back into Mexico. Mexico is complicent in the criminal acts of these foriegn nationals and is guilty of not securing its own southern border and allowing them to travel across its Sovereign soil. Yes Biden, his Administration and the socialist Democrat Party are criminally guilty of not securing our border and are likely guilty of treason based on their intent. Their guilt does not dismiss Mexico’s guilt. Stay in Mexico must be enforced once again.
