Biden: Military says Pelosi’s Taiwan visit “not a good idea”

- Biden said that he expected to speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping “in the 10 next days.”
The U.S. military has expressed concerns about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s reported plans to go to Taiwan, President Joe Biden said Wednesday.
“I think that the military thinks it’s not a good idea right now. But I don’t know what the status of it is,” Biden told reporters after returning from a trip to Massachusetts to announce new climate actions.
Pelosi is planning to lead a delegation to Taiwan in August, according to multiple outlets. Her office has not commented on any potential trip, and the White House has said it does not believe it is finalized. But if it were to go forward, it would mark a rare visit to the island for a high-ranking U.S. leader.
Beijing warned Tuesday that any visit by Pelosi and other U.S. officials would “have a severe negative impact on the political foundation of China-US relations, and send a gravely wrong signal to ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist forces.”
White House press secretary Karine Jean-PIerre earlier Wednesday reiterated the administration’s commitment to the One China policy, which recognizes Beijing as the representative government of China but considers Taiwan’s status unsettled.
Biden has muddied the U.S. position on Taiwan with previous comments, however, repeatedly indicating the U.S. would defend Taiwan against an invasion by China.
“Look, here’s the situation. We agree with the ‘One China’ policy … but the idea that to be taken by force, just taken by force, is just not appropriate,” Biden said in May in Japan. “It will dislocate the entire region and be another action similar to what happened in Ukraine.”
China has been increasingly aggressive in recent years, stepping up military flights into Taiwan’s airspace and sending ships through the Taiwan Strait. The pattern has raised alarms among the international community that Beijing may ultimately try to take Taiwan by force.
Under the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, the U.S. is committed to providing Taiwan with arms for its defense. The law does not commit the U.S. to send troops to Taiwan to defend it.
Biden also said that he expected to speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping sometime in the 10 next days.

biden is compromised as he throughhis son have accepted a lot of money from China. China is buying a lot of US farmland currently, Now why would they do that? That is an easy one for people with brains. We know why. China has been borrowing but not returning from us for years technology etc. With biden the door is open for them. PS. Remember the birthing center in the NE. They took in chinese pregnant ladies to birth their bbies there . \Why> they have American citizenships. Now why do they want that too.? Life is a mystery. she is not a good idea period. how do we as Americans continue to re-elect the same people that have us in the situation we are in? all politicians in office now can be allowed to finish thier current terms, not allowed to continue to receive the outrageous benefits they have provided themselves at the tax payers cost, and will continue to drain our country till they die. I feel sorry for my children and grandchildren. God bless us all.

I agree totally, Mert. The scariest realization that I’ve had, and I believe 100%, is that we won’t make it thru Biden’s full term. They are selling China our strategic oil reserves, destruction of our economy and confidence in the US dollar is nearly gone, soon the dollars coveted title of the reserve currency or petrodollar will be over. The New World Order (WEF) has toppled Canada, Italy, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Australia is nearly there….Next will be the UK and Germany.. If we let them succeed in taking our firearms away, there will be genocide and complete collapse of the nation. The government doesn’t represent us anymore, and our “leaders” have sold us out, and it should be crystal clear to anyone paying attention. I truly believe with all my heart that the only reason we’re still enjoying what freedoms we have left and aren’t in cattle cars now I’d because we are still armed. But, in order for Agenda 2030 to succeed they need to take the guns away.
