  • Former NYPD officer Thomas Webster has received a 10-year prison sentence from a Washington federal court.
  • Webster was found guilty in May of assaulting a police officer during the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.
  • His sentence, which is the longest Capitol riot sentence yet, also includes three years of supervised release.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia has sentenced former NYPD officer Thomas Webster to 10 years of imprisonment for assaulting a police officer during the Capitol riot. The sentence, which was handed down on Thursday, is the longest Capitol riot sentence yet.

On Jan. 6, 2021, thousands of supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol in a failed attempt to stop Congress from certifying President Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election.

According to the Justice Department, over 860 individuals were arrested for crimes related to the invasion of the Capitol, including more than 260 who were charged with restricting or assaulting law enforcement officers.

Video recordings of the riot showed Webster striking an officer with a flagpole and tackling him. During the trial, Webster argued that he acted in self-defense. In May, the federal jury in the District of Columbia rejected Webster’s self-defense argument and found him guilty of assaulting a Washington police officer.

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta addressed Webster during the sentencing, “I too wish you hadn’t come to Washington, D.C. I too wish you had stayed at home in New York … that you had not come out to the Capitol that day, because all of us would be far better off. Not just you … your family … the country.”

According to the court’s online portal page, “The Defendant is sentenced to concurrent terms of 120 months.” A three-year supervised release was also added to the sentence.

A prison sentence of 17 years and six months was recommended by federal prosecutors, while the court’s probation department recommended a prison sentence of 10 years. The judge was not obligated to follow these recommendations.

Webster’s lawyer argued for a shorter sentence, arguing that his client had been under “an extraordinary amount of influence” from Trump’s statements about the election.

Fucking disgusting. This is what is stored in the future of this country and this administration of thieves. Cangoro courts for all those who oppose the twisted version of their democraty which the thieves embrace today.
The too goody shoes VP Pence should have not certify the stolen electoral votes. He could have saved all the people who died in Afghanistan ans all the people who died in Ukraine and the once will die in the near future
The thieves already won this November elections. Some loyalist somewhere
in Ukraine or Europe will dump the required votes by manipulating the dominion voting machines and once the thieves declare victory the game is over, as usual. No Supreme Court will intervene, they did not do it before nor they will do it now. As much people
hope that the election will be fair there is no more such a thing. They will hold the grip on the power and if you don’t like it and want to contest their victory you can be sure to say good bye to your wife, kids and evrything you achieve because the thieves will take away evrything you achieved and even more. That is why they have cangooro courts, loyalist in key positions of power and long sentences to hand out.

Held without bail and without arraignment and without legal council and stuffed into a filthy prison for months. Is that the country you know? And they accuse us of being Marxists. Watch your six and be very careful what you say.
