Five biggest takeaways at the Jan. 6 hearing [Video]

- The Jan. 6 House select committee investigating the Capitol riot had its first televised hearing on Thursday.
- Rep. Liz Cheney said Trump had “summoned the mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack.”
- Testimonies from Ivanka Trump, former Attorney General William Barr, and Police Officer Caroline Edwards were the highlight of the hearing.
The first public hearing of the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was held Thursday evening. The nearly two-hour hearing was carried live on most broadcast networks and cable news channels.
Here are five of the biggest moments during the hearing:
Liz Cheney’s remarks
Rep. Liz Cheney, who repeatedly criticized former President Donald Trump’s behavior, said that Trump’s accountability for the Capitol attack was crystal-clear.
“Those who invaded our Capitol and battled law enforcement for hours were motivated by what President Trump had told them: that the election was stolen and that he was the rightful president,” she said.
Cheney asserted that Trump had “summoned the mob, assembled the mob and lit the flame of this attack.”
The congresswoman took a swipe at Republicans who retain allegiance to Trump despite the events of Jan. 6.
“There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone,” she said. “Your dishonor will remain.”
Capitol Police Officer Caroline Edwards’s testimony
About 140 police officers were injured during the Capitol insurrection and Edwards was one of them.
Edwards recalled seeing fellow officer Brian Sicknick in distress, and turning “as pale as this sheet of paper,” holding a piece of white paper in front of her. Edwards thought he had been pepper-sprayed by rioters. Sicknick died the following day after having suffered two strokes.
She described the incident as “a war scene. I saw friends with blood all over their faces. I was slipping in people’s blood.”
Testimonies from Ivanka Trump and former Attorney General William Barr
The early part of the hearings was punctuated by video clips of testimony from former Trump officials. These made the case that the former president and his inner circle — including former Attorney General William Barr and daughter Ivanka Trump knew he lost the election and was not fraudulent.
In the clip, Barr was seen with committee officials reiterating his belief that Trump’s allegations of election fraud in 2020 were “bullshit.” The next clip shows Ivanka Trump saying that she found Barr’s failure to find fraud personally persuasive.
“It affected my perspective. I respect Attorney General Barr, so I accepted what he was saying,” she said.
Video footage of the violence at the Capitol
A compilation of video footage of the Capitol attack concluded the first part of the hearing. It was shown to somehow refresh the memories of the people about what happened seventeen months ago.
The presentation ended with audio of Trump talking in a subsequent interview about “love in the air” that day.
Trump’s remark increased Proud Boys’ recruitment
When Trump and Biden had a presidential debate in September 2020, Chris Wallace asked the then-president whether he was “willing to condemn, tonight, white supremacists and militia groups.” Trump said he was willing to do so but asked to give him “a name.”
Biden interjected: “Proud Boys.”
“Proud Boys — stand back and stand by,” Trump replied.
Proud Boys members said the controversial comment helped spike recruitment for the group.
The panel said it helped them in its goal of drawing a direct line between Trump’s words and the violence of the Jan.6 insurrection.

One after another has been proven to be nothing but bull. Millions and millions of dollars have been spent in an attempt to smear and keep President Donald Trump from running in 2024. Just look at the nightmare America is under the rule of the democrats a lesson we should have all learned just by looking at the democratic run states. Perhaps it is to late but I hope not.

The Democrats are scared to death of what’s coming. They’re like a classroom of preschoolers in diapers who all start screaming every time they can’t have their way. I can’t defend trump for being much different in that respect, but I will praise trump for his ability to get this county headed back in the right direction while he was in office. Obama ruined this country in so many ways concerning racism and patriotism that he should have been locked up when he instigated BLM and Antifa to terrorize the whole country. Obama is still instigating the BLM to continue with their rampage, and Biden is permitting any radical commotion any group causes because it distracts from his hidden agendas. The Democrats are about to lose the house and the senate. They are merely throwing a big fit to distract voters from the real issue at hand. DEMOCRATS FAILED LEADERSHIP! So jeeplover, if you can’t stand the noise this classroom of preschoolers are making, shut the door and stand out in the hall until it calms down. Be patient! You really should pull up a chair and enjoy the imbacilic spectacle the Democrats are making out of themselves.

Myra, of course, this whole spectacle is an attempt to stop trump from running in 2024. The Democrats know trump will win if he runs in 2024. The Democrats have no other avenue to stop him from running, so they smear Trump for instigating a riot where the only death was a cop that died from a stroke. Well, why aren’t the same seekers of justice charging Obama with instigating terrorism? Obama was most definitely behind the BLM and Antifa riots that terrorized the whole nation. Those riots caused numerous deaths, several of which were outright murders! Those riots caused billions in property damage! Those riots destroyed statues of this country’s history. All those riots were instigated by Obama, turning a lowlife scumbag criminal George Floyd into a Saint, and then the Democrats blaming a cop for that basturd’s death. Obama recently tried to stir the whole criminal episode up when he cried about George Floyd the day after the Uvalde school shooting. George Floyd was a POS criminal who died of an overdose while being held down after he kicked a cop in the nuts, and Obama and fake news media instigated dozens of deadly riots falsely portraying George Floyd’s death as a murder. The Democrats refuse to hold anybody responsible for any of BLM and Antifa lunatism because it all fits the Democrats agenda. Donald Trump being president again doesn’t fit their agenda, and a shitload of Democrat politicians will lose their positions. Typical Republican philosophy!!! Ninety percent of American people want better gun laws, even Republicans, but when it comes to the elections and their votes, they will still vote Republican. Remember what Greg Abbott, the current Republican governor of Texas, said after the Uvalde Massacre, “It could have been worse.” How could it have been worse? Maybe his grandchildren could have been in that classroom. But alas, no, his grandchildren are in private schools.

I didn’t want to believe it, but it is now obvious that Democrats invite the tragedies to further their goal of gun confiscation and refuse any action to prevent those tragedies. In 2013, the Grassley-Cruz bill targeted felons, fugitives and those with serious mental illness to prosecute them if they illegally tried to buy guns. Even though the majority of the Senate approved it, the Democrats filibustered it and the bill died. Now we have the Uvalde massacre and Chuck Schumer refused to advance a bi-partisan bill that would have outlined the “Best Practices” that have been identified (after Sandy Hook) to implement in all schools that would prevent these needless killings; such as one controlled access point only, armed Resource Officers, or allow (not mandate) teachers who are trained to have concealed carry. Biden also says he is against these common sense solutions. Any one of the measures would have prevented the tragedy at Uvalde, in fact, they have prevented three mass casualty events since 2018 in schools that have implemented some or all of these “Best Practices”. Just three days ago, another mass school shooting was averted in Gadsden, Alabama because all the doors were locked and an armed Resource officer killed the potential threat. Go look it up. I bet you didn’t hear about that on the news. Tell everyone. It is disgusting and abhorrent that the Democrats refuse such simple solutions in favor of advancing their anti-constitutional ideology whose ultimate goal is gun confiscation.
Further, their new gun control bill that was just advanced in the House is ironically called the “for the children act”, just like their attempted bill to Federalize elections and codify election fraud was called ” the for the people act”. Go look that up. Obviously, their defund the police and “no bail” policies show they don’t care about the dozens of children that are killed in drive by shootings in our cities every year. The don’t care about children that become sex slaves as they are trafficked across our open border by the cartels. They are willing to abort babies up to and after the moment of birth. That’s not abortion, it’s murder. This is pure evil and anyone who can’t see that is blind and complicit.

Must remember, if you were taught, that guns rights in the constitution is for citizens to be able to rise up and remove a government that no longer follows the constitution. So why is it only one party that wants guns removed you asked? Well it is the SAME party that made ALL the Jim crow laws, and kept/wanted slavery. Why else did only one party want history removed. Because they know when history is forgotten then it comes around to repeat itself.

I, too, want BETTER GUN LAW instead of the ineffectual “school safe zones”: It starts with “Amendment II” and ends with “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The “worse” part was if it had occured in a blue state, the Democrats would STILL be fund-raising for the psycho-shooter and passing more laws to make illegal-gun-possession-in-schools even more illegaler to tell us they ‘fixed it.’ I’m so glad you will agree.

The liberals and democrats have confirmed that they have nothing to offer the American people. Lacking any support, they are desperate to establish a one-world government with continuing domination of all political and social activities in the United States and potential subservience to the Obama-initiated shift of control to Middle East powers. There is no patriotism to a sovereign United States of America. This includes the abolishment of Christianity, total elimination of gun ownership by US citizens, distruction of all support systems such as the petroluem industry, the food industry, independent ownership of land and businesses except by a favored few, all utilities and other life support systems. They want to revive and expand the Civil War Reconstruction era where there was confiscation of property by scalawags and denial of property ownership by existing landowners in the South and punishment of white Southerners in every way possible. Most blacks today see through the faux actions of the liberals to curry favor because they realize the liberals/democrats don’t giveadamn about the blacks. Neither do they realize that millions of blacks and whites raised in the South have been friends and neighbors all of our lives and will continue to be. The exceptions, those who have sought to create and build disharmony and conflict through riots and demonstrations, are well-known by both races. These people have lived on demands for public and private funds all of their lives and donations from poor blacks have come from major sacrifices from them. Needless to say, the main-stream media, as a facilitating voice for the liberals, has destroyed its own industry in its abuse of a “free press.”

Never before in history has there been a conspiracy of Big Tech monopolies and the media and one political party to censor all information going to the public and, in effect, throw an election. And let’s not forget that all the major government three letter agencies; the FBI, the CIA, the DOJ, the IRS and even the DOD and the Department of Homeland Security are now weaponized to support one political party. The Biden’s are guilty of the crimes of money laundering, racketeering, and accepting bribes from hostile foreign powers. Hunter’s continued illegal use of crack cocaine (on video), soliciting prostitution, and illegal possession of a firearm would be enough to put any ordinary citizen in jail. And speaking of jail, there are dozens of American citizens that have been locked up unconstitutionally (without bail or due process) in a D.C. gulag for essentially trumped up trespassing charges for almost two years. Now some will be charged with “sedition” while the real seditionists that have proveably lied to the FBI or before Congress; Sussmann, Comey, Brennan, Clapper Strozk, Page, etc., all have zero accountability and get full retirement and lucrative gigs on CNN. That all of this is tolerated with no consequences makes a mockery of our legal, political and justice system. The Democrats have destroyed the “rule of law” in America. And, oh yeah, the President is clearly mentally incompetent and (even without all the documented instances of voter fraud) the fact that dozens of states unconstitutionally changed their voter laws without the required approval of their own state legislators means the the 2020 election was not valid. On top of all that they are bankrupting us by their idiotic (no, intentional) policies that print money we don’t have and cause massive inflation. They’ve destroyed our energy independence and done everything possible to hinder and stop further gas and oil drilling and exploration; knowing that every single product that every Ameican buys is delivered using gas or diesel trucks, trains, and planes. Yeah, Biden got 10,000,000 more votes than Obama……….most of them after 4 am in the morning following Election Day and after just the swing states all somehow paused their counts simultaneously at 4 am. Thereafter it was all Biden 90% to Trump 10% with counting until Biden caught up then won. But no!
