WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Rep. Liz Cheney said in a CBS News interview that former President Trump is using more extreme language than what caused the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.
  • The Republican congresswoman also said Sunday that “There is absolutely a cult of personality around Trump.”
  • She also noted that Trump has not expressed remorse about what happened on Jan. 6, 2021.

In a new interview on CBS’ “Sunday Morning”, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) said former President Trump is using more extreme language than what led to the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021.

Trump spoke at a rally before the insurrection and told his supporters: “We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”

Cheney told CBS News correspondent Robert Costa on Sunday that Trump was only becoming more inflammatory as the midterm elections approach.

She noted that “we are not in a situation where former President Trump has expressed any sense of remorse about what happened.”

“We are in fact in a situation where he continues to use even more extreme language, frankly, than the language that caused the attack. And so, people must pay attention. People must watch, and they must understand how easily our democratic system can unravel if we don’t defend it.”

When Costa asked the Wyoming congresswoman if she believes the Republican Party nowadays is a “cult,” she agreed.

“Is the Republican Party a personality cult?” Costa asked.

“I think that large segments of it have certainly become that,” Cheney answered.

“A cult?” Costa clarified.

“Yeah. I mean, I think there is absolutely a cult of personality around Donald Trump. And I think that, you know, the majority of Republicans across the country don’t want to see our system unravel,” she added. “They understand how important it is to protect and defend the Constitution.”

The CBS interview comes after the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack announced last week that it will hold its first hearing in prime time during the 8 p.m. time slot on June 9.

Cheney along with Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) are the two Republican members of the select committee investigating the insurrection.

Cheney, formerly the third-ranking Republican in the House of Representatives, was ousted from her leadership position with the House Republican Conference due to her role in the Jan. 6 select committee.

Liz Cheney blaming Trump for Jan,6th is ironic. Why wouldn’t she also blame Obama for instigating BLM to destroy billions’ worth of property? Why wouldn’t she blame Biden for permitting BLM and Antifa for continuing this rapage of destruction? Why wouldn’t she blame Biden and Obama for the numerous deaths that BLM and Antifa have caused? Trump was merely trying to convince people that this country’s citizens are gonna have to stand up for what’s right! Liz Cheney is a despicable RINO! The fact is, Obama and Biden have caused this country irreversible damage, and Liz Cheney is a traitor! Demoncrat witch’s should be burned at the stake!

First of all it was NOT an insurrection until the democRAT sponsored BLM,ANTIFA,FBI and who knows what and who else infiltrated this peaceful demonstration and turned it into what the liberal, socialist democRATS and RINOS orchestrated.
