Report: Trump allows Biden’s transition after being told he doesn’t need to concede [Video]

According to The New York Times, President Donald Trump decided to participate in the transition to a Biden administration after his advisors told him that he does not need to make a concession.

Almost three weeks after the November 3rd election, Trump said that he was giving a go signal to the General Services Administration to start with the transition process that would officially allow President-elect Joe Biden to assume office.

“In the best interest of our Country, I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same,” the president tweeted on Monday.

The GSA’s administrator, Emily Murphy, has the authority to acknowledge the President-elect and begin with the transition process. She, however, took some time to proceed with the transition as the president continued to challenge the election results, claiming without solid evidence that he won.

In his Twitter remarks, Trump remained showing no signs of backing down from his electoral contest.

“Our case STRONGLY continues, we will keep up the good fight, and I believe we will prevail!”

Based on the Times report, numerous White House officials ━ Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, White House counsel Pat Cipollone, and presidential attorney Jay Sekulow ━ were responsible for persuading Trump to cooperate with the transition.

“He did not need to say the word ‘concede,’ they told him, according to multiple people briefed on the discussions,” The Times claimed.

Trump’s tweets were likely to be the closest to recognizing his defeat since he acknowledged the transition process, at least one advisor thought.

Over the weekend, the president was reportedly dissatisfied with how his campaign legal team handle their electoral cases. At one point, he even said that Rudy Giuliani and others were “fools that are making him look bad,” according to NBC News. 

In an open letter to the president, about 160 top US executives that include GOP donors, have encouraged him to cooperate with Biden’s team in making the essential groundwork and arrangements.

As a government agency, the GSA is tasked to provide funding and other pertinent resources needed for a transition between administrations.
