Democrats Suddenly Want To Toughen Stance on Crime Amid Surging Rates Nationwide

As the 2024 presidential election approaches, a wave of Democratic strongholds across the United States are shifting their stance on crime policies. This comes as a stark reversal of the reforms that were championed in the aftermath of the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.
In response to escalating public concern and outrage over a surge in crimes such as murder, carjacking, and retail theft, these Democratic cities and states are amplifying police authority. This is a significant departure from the previous years when stringent law-and-order measures were considered taboo.
Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul made headlines recently when she announced the deployment of the National Guard and New York State Police to New York City subways due to a spike in transit crime. She stated in a Thursday MSNBC interview, “I’m … going to demonstrate that Democrats fight crime as well. So this narrative that Republicans have said and hijacked the story that we’re soft on crime, that we defund the police. No.”
New York City Mayor Eric Adams echoed the governor’s sentiments. He asserted during a Wednesday interview with FOX 5 New York, “Nothing encourages the feeling of safety more than having a uniformed officer present from the bag checks when you first come into the system to watching them walk through the subway cars to the platforms.”
This shift in stance is not limited to New York. San Francisco and Washington, D.C., both advanced tougher crime policies Tuesday, going against previous reforms such as defunding the police. In Washington, D.C., the city council unanimously approved a bill known as the “Secure DC Omnibus Amendment Act of 2024” to backtrack on liberal reforms following a significant increase in homicides.
Mayor Muriel Bowser commented on the bill passing, “Passing and implementing Secure DC is a critical step in the work to build a safer DC by rebalancing our public safety and justice ecosystem in favor of safety and accountability.”
Oregon, the first state in the country to decriminalize hard drugs like cocaine, heroin, oxycodone, and methamphetamine, is also reversing its stance. Both houses of the state legislator passed HB 40002 by a 21 to 8 vote to reimpose criminal penalties for drug possession, a move that Democratic Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek is expected to sign.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is also attempting to shift the partisan narrative regarding crime. DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd stated on March 8, “The murder rate skyrocketed under Donald Trump and crime rates have fallen under President Biden.”
As the 2024 election approaches, it’s clear that Democrats are making a concerted effort to push back against the narrative that they are soft on crime. Whether these changes will be enough to sway public opinion remains to be seen.

It’s about time Democrats woke up to the reality of the crime wave plaguing our nation. For years, they’ve pushed for leniency and defunding the police, only to see crime rates soar.
The recent shift in policies is a clear admission that their previous approach was flawed. These Democratic cities and states are finally acknowledging that strong law enforcement is necessary for public safety.
It’s no coincidence that this change comes as the 2024 presidential election looms. Democrats are desperately trying to distance themselves from the “soft on crime” label that has haunted their party. But is it too little, too late?
The American people have seen the disastrous results of lenient crime policies. It’s up to them to decide whether they trust the Democrats to truly protect their communities.

Were is our Military that took an oath to serve and protect our country and its people from foreign and domestic terrorists? They must end this nonsense. Our Declaration of Independence spells out what needs to be done, yet NO ONE is doing anything but complaining and waiting for the next election. They, as 2000 stole the election and putso many behind bars ruining their lives and careers. Why? They are a threat to this Marxist party! IF they succeed our country will likely never see another election.

This has been building for 4 YEARS – why does it take Liberals so long to recognize that their policies SUCK?
How can they pretend to be leaders if they lack foresight?
And how well thought out will their corrections be with only 6 months to go?
They made this mess, now they have to deal with the impact.

It’s about time. You sure don’t need a college education to see what crime is doing to our country. When criminals are arrested and get out the same day, I don’t understand how the police even bother doing their job. This country is like the “Wild West” days all over again. Ridiculous. Put these people in prison and let them rot there. I’m afraid to even go grocery shopping. This is NOT the America that we all knew and lover.

This is just another example of the gov creating a problem and then coming to the rescue to solve the problem they created…sound familiar? It’s the same game plan as 911 only this time they want to take more. This is NOT a change of heart, it’s deliberate…increased surveillance in everything you do. It also gets rid of businesses in the area, no jobs/opportunity, increased dependence on the Gov.
