Michigan’s Ghost Voters: Investigation On Deceased Registrants Ahead of 2024 Election

Published

on

Clear Facts

  • Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) investigators have visited the graves of deceased individuals who are still registered voters in Michigan, as the state prepares for the 2024 election.
  • PILF filed a lawsuit against Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson in November 2021, alleging that nearly 26,000 dead registrants remain on Michigan’s voter rolls, in violation of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).
  • Despite Benson’s efforts to have the lawsuit dismissed, the case continues, with PILF arguing that keeping dead voters on the rolls for decades is not reasonable.

In a remarkable turn of events, investigators from the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) have been visiting graveyards in Michigan. Their mission? To highlight the fact that many Americans who have long since passed away are still registered to vote in the state.

This comes as Michigan gears up for the 2024 election, raising concerns about the integrity of the voter rolls.

In November 2021, PILF took legal action against Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat. The lawsuit accuses Benson of keeping almost 26,000 deceased individuals on the voter rolls, a violation of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).

The lawsuit details that 25,975 dead registrants remain on Michigan’s voter rolls. This includes 23,663 registrants who have been dead for five years or more, 17,479 registrants who have been dead for at least a decade, and 3,956 registrants who have been dead for at least 20 years.

PILF released footage this month showing their visits to several Michigan graveyards. The footage highlights some of the deceased Americans who are still registered to vote in the state.

One such registrant was born before World War I and would be 110 years old today if she were alive. Another passed away 25 years ago, the same year former President Bill Clinton was impeached. One registrant has been deceased for 12 federal election cycles.

“Secretary Benson is vigorously opposing our efforts to investigate the tens of thousands of deceased registrants we found on the voter roll,” PILF President, J. Christian Adams said in a statement.

Benson attempted to have PILF’s lawsuit dismissed by a federal court in August 2022. However, the court denied her request and the case continues.

“Federal law requires state election officials to have a reasonable program to remove the dead. Keeping dead voters on the rolls for two decades isn’t reasonable,” Adams stated.

This ongoing case underscores the importance of maintaining accurate voter rolls, not just in Michigan, but across the United States. The integrity of our elections depends on it.

Clear Thoughts (op-ed)

The fact that investigators are visiting graveyards to confirm the presence of deceased individuals on Michigan’s voter rolls is both astounding and deeply concerning. It’s a stark reminder that the integrity of our elections is under threat, even from the dead.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation’s lawsuit against Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson highlights the negligence of some officials in maintaining accurate voter rolls. With nearly 26,000 dead registrants still on the rolls, one cannot help but question the legitimacy of our electoral process.

This case should serve as a wake-up call for all Americans, regardless of political affiliation. The preservation of our democracy depends on our ability to ensure fair and transparent elections. We must demand that our elected officials take action to remove deceased individuals from voter rolls and prevent potential fraud.

In the end, it’s not just about Michigan; it’s about the future of our nation. Let’s make sure that our elections are decided by the living, not the dead.

Report doesn’t say that any of those deceased showed up as voting on election day…

As if that mattered. Deliberately insuring that fraudulent registrations appear on voter rolls constitutes a crime in itself. Only a goober would suggest that allowing a vicious dog, a jungle cat or a poisonous snake in a neighborhood or even in a school is allowable until someone gets bitten.

The hub of election fraud in Michigan is in Detroit. That was borne out in the statewide recount in 2016. There was plenty of proof in video, formal affadavits and other forms that fraud was afoot. And judges made clear that voting irregularities pervaded Detroit balloting so deeply that 60% of the city’s ballots could not be recounted. There are famous photos of corrupt Detroit officials taping pizza boxes on windows so their tabulations could not be viewed — even by duly appointed election observers — by anyone other than city officials.

Twenty-six thous votes may not seem like a lot in a state with 10 million population. Bear in mind that Trump took Michigan with a 10K lead over Shrillary’s.

More importantly, consider that these are just a tiny slice of the electorate that one small organization found. The actual number of deceased Donk voters probably reaches six digits.

Also importantly, this circumstance does not zero in on throngs of people who have moved out of state, or unregistered people who have moved to Michigan, or voters who cast ballots in multiple states, or voters who fake their registrations, or ex-cons who vote despite losing their suffrage, or household pets who are registered to vote, or massive absentee-ballot fraud, and so on.

Remember sec of state Benson illegally ordered local and county clerks to not compare signatures on people’s registration rolls with the ballots themselves. She deliberately sabotaged elections and democracy itself. There is no way to explain the motive for that action but as election fraud.

I suspect if George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were from Michigan they would still be casting a solid democratic vote! Just saying!

The dumbest post in years or decades. Washington and Jefferson never voted for a Donk, nor would they EVER. That’s a job for not-sees.

Please document how many of those names “voted”. Obviously, if they “voted”, that’s fraud and it needs to be rooted out. Go hard on this, we need the truth.

How many dead voters cast ballots is irrelevant. The very effort of shielding fradulent voter rolls is a crime unto itself. You’re pretending that if a girl is kidnapped, rape has to be documented for the kidnaping to be unlawful. You know better; everyone does. And the fierce partisan efforts to shield the law from enforcement makes clear that what’s at work here is a criminal enterprise — RICO crimes, among others.

I agree with you. No one knows what to do about this or anything the wetbacks do. U.S. citizens do not know what to do! How about stop paying taxes to banana republic governments !! They are going to put us all in jail just like Russia and China

Hmmm, wonder if that’s where the suddenly “found” ballots were actually from in Detroit in 2020, where, according to someone I knew who had been a poll worker there before and was outraged because as she said, “ THAT’S NOT HOW THEY WORK THE POLLS OVER THERE!!” According to her, everything that was shown on the newscasts was definitely NOT business as usual!! Just sayin’.

My question is why would you want 26,000 dead people (that we know of) to remain on the voter rolls!!! Now what would a Dem-o-rat election official do with mail-in or ballot box stuffing inclination do with 26,000 votes to be used as they see fit?!?! Hmmm…

My wife and I were registered voters. I was in the hospital for three major surgeries and, upon release, unable to walk. My wife was 95% blind and wisely reluctant to drive. I had her power of attorney and signed papers for her. We applied for, and got, absentee ballots. Within several weeks we received two more unsolicited ballots in the mail. Three weeks later, she died from Pancreatic cancer. By election day, I was able to walk and drive again. I could have signed her two ballots, my two ballots and mailed them on the way to the polls. Being still in the mail, the roles at the voting place could not have known I had mailed in the ballots. I did not, but technically could have voted five times. I did vote once in person and destroyed the unneeded mail ballots. But my experience taught me how vulnerable the system is to fraud when using mail in ballots.

It just crossed my mind, what about the people who have moved to another state or county still on the voter rolls?!?! How many does that add to list for removal?!?!

If the DEAD can not vote then why even keep them on the voter roll?

There is no commonsensical logical reason to even keep the voters who are deceased on a voter’s registration.

WHOA troll, before you say there is nothing wrong with it.

2020 had more REGISTERED voters cast ballots than what were alive to cast a ballot.

The FACT that those votes were from Democrats or Republicans who were deceased actually matters because EITHER party could use that voter hole to steal an election.

2020 was the PERFECT opportunity to prove that really cry about ZERO fraud was detected in the 2020 election.

Democrats instead of proving they WON by some unobtainable number of votes and that Trump lost by a number of votes was lost. All they did was successfully cast sufficient doubt in the elections process to show that 2024 needs even more scrutiny than ANT OTHER historic elections which have had “some” level of fraud that has never fully been investigated and those loopholes patched as is demonstrated by the Michigan investigation and I bet if we investigated EVERY STATE we would find the same results and would find the same reasons to FIX how we hold and count elections actually STANDARDIZING every state to use the same process instead of the current system that allows them to host their very own laws.
Remember how Colorado wants to remove Trump from the ballot… Cause or not the bottom line is that according to every justice, that creates a very slippery precedence where Biden could be removed for some cause off of other ballots.

In Russia and other similar countries that have elections, they use the same one-sided system.
You put a single person on the ballot and eliminate competition.

So here is the Russian voting pattern…

So who did you vote for in the Putin Election?
Well, I voted for Putin… Ok so you are not a dissident then

or it could go the other way

Well, I did not vote for anyone… Your family will not be happy with that choice.

The bottom line is Putin is typically the only one alive on the ballot to decide the vote over.

Removing your opponent is NOT Democracy and is NOT protecting a Democracy.

Hot topic. Lots of comments. It is good the dead should be removed from the rolls. Charges should be brought against Bensen if the dead have been found to vote. Given the defensive statement a careless attitude is established for which there should be consequences. More than any candidate the right for a valid vote is paramount. Invalid votes corrupt the process.

What is the justification for refusing to clean up the voter rolls and for wanting the suit dismissed?
