Over the weekend, an unfortunate incident took place involving Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell. Dell was shot at a Florida nightclub on Saturday night.

Although he sustained a minor injury, Dell was promptly released from the hospital. The Texans organization confirmed his involvement in the event via a statement issued on Sunday on the social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter).

The incident occurred at the Cabana Live nightclub, which also issued a statement following the event. A verbal altercation escalated quickly, resulting in the 16-year-old suspect firing shots at attendees.

The shots were not aimed specifically at Dell but were fired indiscriminately. Fortunately, the injuries sustained in the incident were reportedly non-life-threatening.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, which was patrolling the surrounding area due to the large crowd, responded quickly to the incident. The suspect was apprehended by a security officer working at the venue and was subsequently taken into police custody.

Facing significant charges, the teen was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. These include attempted homicide and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Last season, Dell made quite an impact, with 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns before a Week 13 leg injury cut his season short.

Despite the recent ordeal, Texans coach DeMeco Ryans assured fans that Dell’s recovery from the prior leg injury is progressing well. He expressed expectation for Dell’s return in the off-season workouts.
