  • Rep. Elise Stefanik and her family were targeted with a bomb threat while traveling home for Thanksgiving.
  • Former Rep. Lee Zeldin and former Rep. Matt Gaetz were also threatened with pipe bombs.

A disturbing wave of threats has been directed at President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet picks, with nearly a dozen individuals targeted in a series of violent and un-American threats. These incidents unfolded from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Incoming White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated, “Last night and this morning, several of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees and Administration appointees were targeted in violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them.”

The threats varied from bomb threats to swatting, prompting swift action from law enforcement to ensure the safety of those involved. Leavitt expressed gratitude for the rapid response: “President Trump and the entire Transition team are grateful for their swift action.”

Rep. Elise Stefanik, who has been nominated to serve as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, was among those threatened. A bomb threat was made against her residence while she and her family were en route to Saratoga County for Thanksgiving. Her office released a statement acknowledging the professionalism of law enforcement in handling the situation and extended their gratitude to those who keep communities safe.

Former Rep. Lee Zeldin, nominated for the Environmental Protection Agency, was also targeted with a pipe bomb threat. Zeldin shared, “A pipe bomb threat targeting me and my family at our home today was sent in with a pro-Palestinian themed message. My family and I were not home at the time and are safe.”

Additionally, former Rep. Matt Gaetz, who had withdrawn as the nominee for attorney general, faced a similar threat. A bomb squad was dispatched to his Florida home following a pipe bomb threat.

These threats coincide with recent attempts on Trump’s life, underscoring the dangerous climate surrounding his administration. Donald Trump Jr. voiced his frustration, stating, “The violent left has been calling in bomb threats and swatting incoming members of the Trump Administration. Enough is enough with this type of deranged crap!”
