Trump refuses to commit to election outcome if he loses to Biden

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • The president said he would not make any assurance that he would comply with the upcoming election’s result if the Democrats win.
  • The comment came after the recent polls showing Trump trailing behind Democratic bet, Joe Biden.
  • Trump believes it’s early to conclude the polls, which he called are mostly inaccurate.

While the recent polls show Democrat Joe Biden has the advantage over President Donald Trump, the top executive is declining to commit that he will accept the November election.

Trump added that it’s still too early to tell, and nothing yet is guaranteed.

“I have to see. Look … I have to see,” Trump told moderator Chris Wallace during an interview on Fox News Channel. “No, I’m not going to just say ‘yes.’ I’m not going to say ‘no,’ and I didn’t last time, either.”

Biden’s campaign team responded by saying that the next person to sit in the White House will be up to the American voters.

Trump also criticized a Pentagon leader for being favor in renaming bases that give tribute to Confederate military leaders, a call for change driven by the death of George Floyd.

The president said that whatever the military says about the matter does not concern him.

In another statement, Trump called the country’s leading infectious diseases expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, as “a little bit of an alarmist” about the coronavirus outbreak, reaffirming what he told Fox in February that the virus would go away, eventually.

As of date, the United States topped the number of deaths over coronavirus worldwide with more than 140,000 and confirmed cases of at least 3.7 million.

Remarkably, it was unusual that an incumbent president would not give full confidence in the electoral process. For Trump, though, as to how he behaved during the ending stages of his bid against Hillary Clinton, he is not to honor the election result if the Democrats won.

Trump’s popularity has declined primarily because of how he handled the COVID-19  outbreak and the outcome of protests nationwide over racial discrimination following Floyd’s killing in May.

Trump was often aggressive with Wallace in explaining the White House’s response to COVID-19, balancing over the Black Lives Matter effort, and attempting to display the presumptive Democratic nominee,  Biden, as too sloppy to become the next president.

When it comes to the mounting calls over the change in law enforcement policies nationwide,  Trump clarified that while he understands why Black Americans are disappointed with how the police treat them,  whites have been victims too.

Meanwhile, Trump and his campaign team have been accusing Biden of hiding in his basement because of the outbreak. Biden has undeniably switched to an online campaign but regularly goes to Pennsylvania and Delaware for smaller crowds.

The former vice president’s team said they would resume regular travel and campaign programs as soon as health officials say it’s safe to do so.
