WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • A third unidentified aerial object was shot down over Lake Huron on Sunday after two others were taken down on Friday and Saturday.
  • Lawmakers called for more information from the administration about the objects’ origin and purpose, and the reason for the increasing frequency of sightings.
  • Pentagon officials have yet to assess the objects’ origin and are not ruling out possible extraterrestrial activity.

The United States military shot down another unidentified aerial object on Sunday, prompting lawmakers to demand for more information.

The incident was the third shootdown in three days amid the aftermath of the downing of the suspected Chinese spy balloon off the Carolina coast last Saturday.

On Friday, the military shot down a “high-altitude object” over Alaska. On Saturday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ordered the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) to take down an unidentified object over the Yukon territory.

During Sunday’s press briefing, U.S. officials confirmed that an unidentified aerial object was first spotted on Saturday. It was then shot down over Lake Huron on Sunday afternoon for posing a threat to civilian aviation.

The recent string of incidents prompted lawmakers to demand more information on the objects’ origin and purpose, as well as the reason for the sudden frequency of such findings.

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) wrote on Twitter, “There’s been space junk, weather balloons, spy balloons, and military advancements for years. All of sudden world super powers are shooting unidentified objects down. This looks like a testing of military prowess.”

She also pointed to the “extremely noticeable” lack of briefings and evidence presented by the administration.

Montana Rep. Matt Rosendale (R) also asked for more information from the Department of Defense, saying that Congress “must have more timely and accurate information so we can keep our constituents informed.”

Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell (D) called the frequency of identified objects “disturbing” while Michigan Rep. Lisa McClain (R) assured her constituents that they will get the answers they deserve.

Before Sunday’s press briefing, lawmakers were quick to point out the silence of President Joe Biden’s administration.

“Americans deserve to know what is being shot down in our airspace. DOD and the Biden White House have been radio silent,” Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs (R) tweeted.

Montana Sen. Steve Daines (R) also demanded “an immediate and full explanation” from the president, saying that the recent lack of communication was “unacceptable.”

Pentagon officials have yet to provide an assessment of the three recent objects’ origins.

On Sunday, General Glen VanHerck, the commander of NORAD and U.S. Northern Command, said he was not ruling out the possibility of extraterrestrial activity. He added that there are no other unidentified objects on the radar over U.S. airspace as of Sunday.
