US Pilot Rescue Raises Questions Over Israel’s Role in Iran

Clear Facts
- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel provided intelligence and support during a U.S. mission to rescue a downed F-15E crew member inside Iran.
- President Donald Trump set a Tuesday 8:00 p.m. ET deadline for Iran and called for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
- Trump also said U.S. forces recovered both members of the crew and warned Iran about its next moves.
Netanyahu said he was proud of the cooperation between the two countries and said the effort helped save an American servicemember from capture.
“I spoke earlier with President @realDonaldTrump and personally congratulated him on his bold decision and a perfectly executed American mission to rescue the downed pilot from enemy territory,” Netanyahu said.
“The President expressed his appreciation for Israel’s help.”
Trump said Iranian negotiators had conceded most points on the nuclear issue, while insisting they would not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.
“The big thing is they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon. They’re not even negotiating that point, it’s so easy,” President Trump said.
“That’s already been conceded. Most of the points are conceded.”
The president also warned that Iran would face consequences if it failed to comply with his demands.
