Actor Macaulay Culkin and fiancée Brenda Song have publicly denounced Alaska Airlines following a seating failure during a recent family trip. Song said the airline gave away their pre-booked first-class seats without warning on the morning of their flight.
This left the parents separated from their two young sons, ages three and four. The couple said the booking had been made half a year in advance for their family of six.
The couple expressed frustration on social media and warned followers to avoid the carrier. Culkin supported Song’s post by sharing it with his own followers.
“I didn’t know when you book your first class tickets 6 months in advance for your family of six for your son’s birthday — @alaskaair can just give away your seats the morning of with no warning — splitting up you and your 3 and 4 year old kids,” Song shared.
“We will never fly @alaskaair again and neither should you.”
Alaska Airlines later released a statement acknowledging the failure and apologizing for the experience. The airline said it was reaching out to the family to help resolve the matter.
“Traveling can be stressful, especially with young children, and we pride ourselves on being a top airline for traveling families,” the company stated.
“We are deeply sorry for adding friction to the experience.”
The incident highlights concerns about how airlines handle family seating and premium bookings. The public reaction suggests the couple feels the airline broke their trust.
