The House Ethics Committee has launched an investigation into Republican Representative George Santos from New York, following scrutiny over his lies and embellishments about his resume and personal life. The investigation appears to be wide-ranging and will determine whether Santos engaged in unlawful activity with respect to his 2022 congressional campaign, failed to properly disclose required information, violated federal conflict of interest laws, and/or engaged in sexual misconduct towards an individual seeking employment in his congressional office.

Santos had already removed himself from his committee assignments, but he has refused calls from Republicans in New York to step down from office. On Twitter, his office stated that he is fully cooperating with the Ethics probe and would not comment further.

The Ethics committee members David Joyce, R-Ohio, and Susan Wild, D-Pa., will lead the probe, with two other lawmakers from each party. The panel voted unanimously to establish a subcommittee to investigate the allegations.

According to the New York Times, Santos admitted that he lied about key parts of his background, including his job experience and college education. He claimed to have obtained a degree from Baruch College in New York, but the school said that couldn’t be confirmed.

He also claimed to have worked for Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, but neither company could find any records verifying that. Santos’ campaign website also falsely claimed that his grandparents fled Jewish persecution in Ukraine, settled in Belgium, and again fled persecution during WWII.

Perhaps the most serious questions facing Santos involve the personal fortune he claims to have used to finance his campaign. Since announcing his candidacy in 2021, Santos has reported loaning his campaign organization $705,000, accounting for nearly 25% of its receipts over the last two years.

However, despite his false claims of having worked for big, international banks, he was having financial problems up until a few years ago that led to multiple eviction proceedings from New York City apartments. Santos has yet to fully answer questions about how he acquired his wealth.

I don’t understand why it is such a big deal about this guy when all Biden does is lie , cheat, steal, threaten , and misuse his authority. If you go after this guy for misrepresenting himself, the entire Democrap party should be in solitary confinement.

Investigation after investigation is all that is taking place in our government lately. It seems as if the politicians are killing time and getting paid for pretending to do some work with no real results or prosecutions.

So this committee will investigate a Republican about embellishing his resume and campaign finances. But DemocRATS like AOC get a FREE PASS over the lies she told while running for office. We still have a ONE SIDED GOVERNMENT and DOJ. And I doubt it will ever change without another Revolution.
