Russian official raises nuclear threat if Sweden and Finland join NATO

  • The deputy chair of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, warned NATO against accepting Sweden and Finland into their alliance.
  • Medvedev threatened that the Baltic will no longer be nuclear-free if that happened.
  • He said that Russia will be forced to strengthen its forces to restore the world’s military balance.

The deputy chief of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, who was also Russia’s president from 2008-2012, warned NATO on Thursday that Russia may be forced to go nuclear if Sweden and Finland were to join the U.S.-led military alliance.

Sweden and Finland, which shares a 1,300-km (810-mile) border with Russia, have been considering whether or not to join NATO. Finland’s Prime Minister, Sanna Marin, said on Wednesday that their decision will be made in the following weeks.

Medvedev, one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s closest allies, said that if the countries are accepted into the alliance, Russia will be forced to bolster its defenses by strengthening its land, naval, and air forces in the Baltic Sea to restore military balance.

He explicitly raised the nuclear threat, saying, “There can be no more talk of any nuclear–free status for the Baltic — the balance must be restored.”

The Baltic he referred to is the location of the Kaliningrad exclave, which is situated between Poland and Lithuania.

He claimed that nuclear weapon deployment wasn’t in the plans but Russia may be forced to if threatened.

“Until today, Russia has not taken such measures and was not going to,” Medvedev declared. “If our hand is forced well… take note it wasn’t us who proposed this.”

Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24 in the guise of a “special military operation.” Since then, millions of refugees have been displaced and tens of thousands have been killed in both sides.

The threat of an escalation between Russia and the United States also looms, as the U.S. and its Western allies continue to provide Ukraine with aid while bombarding Russia with severe economic sanctions.

When the invasion started, Putin claimed that the operation aims to free Ukraine of its fascist government. He has later defended the invasion of Ukraine as “noble,” and vowed his country’s victory, despite several peace talks. He claimed that Ukraine was a threat to Russian-speaking people.

Ukraine is still fighting for its people and its sovereignty, and has even considered dropping its aims to join NATO to broker peace with Russia, but Putin said that peace talks have come to a dead end.

Russian analyst urges nuclear attack on Yellowstone National Park and San Andreas fault line

The president of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems based in Moscow, Konstantin Sivkov said,

“Geologists believe that the Yellowstone supervolcano could explode at any moment. There are signs of growing activity there. Therefore it suffices to push the relatively small, for example the impact of the munition megaton class to initiate an eruption. The consequences will be catastrophic for the United States – a country just disappears,” he said.

Brings back the results of our carpet bombings in the area between Afghanistan and Pakistani. Glad I just spent a few days in Yellowstone in April. Got to see it again before the big blow.

Is Russia that afraid of other countries that he thinks he will be attacked and has to bolster its military. Russia started the war with Ukraine and yet they say if the other countries do not stop giving weapons to Ukraine they russia will have to use nuclear weapons to fight. Putin is an idiot. He is the one who can not be trusted. putin needs to be replaced as President. And we need President Trump back as President. Then what will russia do?

You have both underestimated, and overestimated, Putin.
      1. When Putin was in school, he learned, from masters, how to play chess. He’s a formidable opponent.
      2. Putin was brought up under Khrushchev, who was a sadistic and brutal dictator. He was head of the Soviet Secret Police and survived. He is NOT ab idiot. Putin is replaying the chess moves, used by the Soviets, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Khrushchev moved missiles into Cuba which threatened the United States. The world Nuclear Clock was moved to 23:59:45, before Khrushchev blinked and removed the Soviet missiles from Cuba. Our President was Kennedy, who had a backbone. Our current POTUS is Biden, who has just so much spaghetti for a backbone.
      3. Putin overestimated his conventional military and underestimated Ukraine’s. He’s played his hand and found to be wanting. The next move belongs to Biden!

Biden is totally incapable of doing anything! He is an idiot, was never the brightest bulb on the tree an is now flickering, ready to blow out at any moment! He is too arrogant, beligerent, temperamental to be president, but he is the one Obama wanted as his stooge so he could have his “ third term”, and will attempt to go for more if he can. He needs to be in prison for treason, and interfering in our government!
