Pelosi visits President Zelensky in Ukraine [Video]

A U.S. Congressional delegation, led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Sunday as a show of support.

As second in line to the presidency after the vice president, Pelosi is the highest-ranking American leader to visit Ukraine since Russia started its war on Feb. 24.

Pelosi stated on Sunday, “Our delegation traveled to Kyiv to send an unmistakable and resounding message to the entire world: America stands firmly with Ukraine.”

Zelenskyy’s office shared footage of his meeting with Pelosi and other U.S. legislators, who were also set to visit Poland for talks.

Pelosi’s office also shared footage of the two leaders thanking each other for their support in the war.

“We are here until victory is won,” Pelosi declared.

There was no previous announcement for the visit.

Among the Congressional delegation were Reps. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.), House Foreign Affairs Committee chair; Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), House Intelligence Committee chair; Jim McGovern (D-Mass.), House Rules Committee chair; Jason Crow (D-Colo.); Bill Keating (D-Mass.); and Barbara Lee (D-Calif.).

Zelenskyy welcomed the delegation and said, “We’ll win and we’ll win together.”

“We believe that we are visiting you to say thank you for your fight for freedom,” Pelosi told the Ukrainian president. “We are on a frontier of freedom and your fight is a fight for everyone. Our commitment is to be there for you until the fight is done.”

According to Pelosi, the delegation would visit southeast Poland and meet with President Andrzej Duda and other senior officials in its capital, Warsaw.

Over 3 million refugees from Ukraine have traveled to Poland since the war began.

Pelosi said, “We look forward to thanking our Polish allies for their dedication and humanitarian efforts.”
