Spy chief says China is developing biologically-enhanced soldiers [Video]

According to the US national intelligence director John Ratcliffe, China has gone to great lengths to boost its military power through the development of biologically-enhanced soldiers.

The country’s intelligence head revealed in a newspaper editorial that Beijing “poses the greatest threat to America today.”

In his piece published by the Wall Street Journal, Radcliffe warned: “The intelligence is clear: Beijing intends to dominate the US and the rest of the planet economically, militarily and technologically. Many of China’s major public initiatives and prominent companies offer only a layer of camouflage to the activities of the Chinese Communist Party.”

According to Ratcliffe, China went to uncommon heights to accomplish its ambition.

“US intelligence shows that China has even conducted human testing on members of the People’s Liberation Army in hope of developing soldiers with biologically enhanced capabilities,” he said, adding that “there are no ethical boundaries to Beijing’s pursuit of power.”

The director said that he has shifted the intelligence budget to concentrate on China, arguing that today, “we must look with clear eyes at the facts in front of us, which make plain that China should be America’s primary national security focus going forward.”

Ratcliffe’s assertion came after he revealed that the majority of government officials and analysts in his agency were always focused on Russia and counter-terrorism actions.

The country’s spy chief, who was appointed by Trump last May, will be stepping down in six weeks when President-elect Joe Biden swears into office. He will be replaced by former deputy director Avril Haines.
