In a concerning incident on the United States Capitol grounds, Congresswoman Nancy Mace from South Carolina was reportedly attacked by an Illinois man. The alleged assailant, identified as James McIntyre, targeted Mace due to her outspoken views on keeping trans-identifying men out of women’s spaces.
Following the incident, Mace took to social media to express her determination to continue her advocacy.
“I was physically accosted tonight on Capitol grounds over my fight to protect women,” she stated in a post on X. “Capitol police have arrested him. All the violence and threats keep proving our point. Women deserve to be safe. Your threats will not stop my fight for women!”
The incident reportedly occurred just before 6:00 p.m. in the Rayburn House Office Building, which was open to the public at that time. Capitol Police responded promptly, with officers and agents from the Threat Assessment Section apprehending McIntyre.
Mace’s commitment to her cause remains unwavering despite the threats and violence she has faced. In late November, she declared, “There’s no amount of bullying and threats on my life that they’ve made this week that’s going to stop me from this,” and vowed to “fight like hell” for the safety and protection of women and girls.
The Capitol Police confirmed that McIntyre, aged 33, is facing charges for his actions against a government official. The incident underscores the ongoing tensions surrounding the debate on transgender rights and women’s safety in public spaces.

Good for her. Men should not be allowed to go into women’s bathrooms, sports and anything else they want to violate. Hope she wasn’t hurt.
