At the recent Chelsea Flower Show in London, a journalist approached Dench with inquiries about any upcoming projects. Her response surprised everyone. She said, “No, no. She said, “It has become impossible, and because I have a photographic memory, I need to find a machine that not only teaches me my lines but also tells me where they appear on the page.” She continued, expressing her frustration, “I used to find it very easy to learn lines and remember them. I could do the whole of ‘Twelfth Night’ right now.”

The first signs of Dench’s deteriorating vision became apparent in 2021. She disclosed that she needed to depend on her friends to read her lines aloud, which she would then memorize.
