Biden’s Blunders Continue: Helsinki Press Conference Marred by Missteps [Video]

Clear Facts:

  • During a press conference in Helsinki, President Biden reacted testily to a question from a Finnish journalist, suggesting she may not be able to “go home tonight.”
  • Biden, seemingly confusing countries, referred to the Icelandic Prime Minister as a “daughter of Ireland,” before correcting himself.
  • These incidents add to a series of public missteps by the President, raising concerns about his mental acuity ahead of his re-election bid.

In what was meant to be a simple question and answer session during a Helsinki press conference, President Biden lost his composure, delivering an unnerving response to Finnish reporter Iida Tikka that has left many scratching their heads.

Ms. Tikka, of Finland’s public broadcaster YLE, asked President Biden, “What actions will you take to assure Finland that the US will remain a reliable NATO partner for decades to come?”

Biden responded with a surety of “overwhelming support” for NATO from both the US public and Congress.

However, he also added, “No one can guarantee the future, but this is the best bet anyone could make.”

When Tikka posed a follow-up question to Finnish President Sauli Niinistö about potential political instability in the US, Biden interjected.

“Let me be clear, I didn’t say we didn’t guarantee — we couldn’t guarantee the future. You can’t tell me whether you’re gonna be able to go home tonight. No one can be sure what they’re gonna do,” he said.

This statement left the Finnish press bewildered, given the relatively safe environment of Helsinki.

The press conference took an additional odd turn when Biden, seemingly confusing nations, referred to Icelandic Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir as a “daughter of Ireland”.

He quickly corrected himself, stating, “You can tell that’s a Freudian slip, I’m thinking of home,” despite his most recent Irish ancestors immigrating to the US in the mid-19th century.

President Biden’s blunders did not end in Helsinki.

At a subsequent NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, he took a jab at an ABC journalist asking a question to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, responding with sarcasm and ridicule.

These incidents continue to fuel concerns about President Biden’s mental acuity and his ability to effectively perform his duties as Commander-in-Chief, especially as he seeks re-election despite wavering poll numbers.
