- White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirms President Biden’s abrupt exit from a Medal of Honor ceremony was intentional due to Covid precautions.
- Biden’s actions raised questions when he stood unmasked next to the 81-year-old honoree and did not wear a mask while walking through the audience.
- Instead of presenting a simple explanation, like a restroom break, Jean-Pierre’s statement has drawn intensified scrutiny towards Biden’s public conduct and mask-wearing choices.
In an effort to possibly curtail rumors, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre clarified that President Biden’s sudden and unexpected exit during a Medal of Honor ceremony honoring a Vietnam War veteran was “done very purposefully.”
This ceremony held significant importance, commemorating Captain Larry Taylor, a Vietnam War hero.
Jean-Pierre articulated Biden’s intentions, stating:
“Again, he wanted to make sure he had those really important remarks to share about the heroics and what the captain — Captain Taylor did on behalf of his country. So, yes, he took off his mask.
And then — but what we made sure to happen is that there was a brief pause — when there was a pause in the program, the President left, so to minimize his — his impact or his — in his impact towards the attendees who were there. And so, that was done on purpose. That was done very purposefully so that, again, he wasn’t — he wasn’t there for too long.”
However, critics and observers have questioned the reasoning behind the 80-year-old president’s choice to stand unmasked beside the 81-year-old Captain Taylor.
Furthermore, President Biden’s decision not to don his mask before moving through the crowd has raised questions about the consistency in his Covid protocols, especially since First Lady Jill Biden recently tested positive for the virus.
While Biden himself has not tested positive, such actions have left many pondering the true reason for his sudden exit.
There’s a simpler explanation in the realm of possibilities: President Biden, being an octogenarian, might have had a basic, human urge to use the bathroom.
This theory seems plausible, especially when considering the president’s slightly uneasy demeanor as he hastily exited the stage.
If Jean-Pierre had merely posited this as a reason, it could have evoked some light-hearted banter on social media.
Instead, by cementing the narrative that Biden’s departure was a conscientiously orchestrated Covid precaution, she has inadvertently intensified the focus on Biden’s mask-wearing habits and his conduct during public events.
