Newsom Defeated By Trump In Hypothetical Democratic Ticket Swap, Poll Reveals

Clear Facts

  • A new poll by Stack Data Strategy shows that Governor Gavin Newsom would lose to former President Donald Trump if he were to replace President Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket.
  • Trump also leads Vice President Kamala Harris in the poll, with the former president faring well among key voter groups.
  • The survey found Trump leading Biden in the Electoral College, 292 to 246, and on track to take back key swing states.

Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) seems to be a potential alternative to President Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket, but a new poll indicates that he would lose to former President Donald Trump.

As conversations about Newsom as a possible replacement for Biden continue, the latest projections by Stack Data Strategy reveal that Trump leads the California governor, and the former Republican president also has an advantage over Vice President Kamala Harris.

Biden has experienced a series of low poll numbers with only months left until the presidential primaries and caucuses. However, Biden has not signaled that he will abandon his bid to be the Democratic nominee, and Newsom has vehemently denied that he will enter the race.

Newsom has been portrayed as Biden’s attack dog, defending the president’s reelection campaign and policies against top GOP leaders while being accused of running a shadow presidential campaign himself.

Several issues are accumulating in Biden’s reelection efforts, including concerns about his age for a second term, an unfavorable economic plan, and problems at the border amid an influx of immigrants into resource-deprived cities.

Trump poses another significant challenge to the president, as the Republican favorite is performing well among voter groups that are crucial in keeping Biden in the White House next year. The survey found Trump leading Biden in the Electoral College, 292 to 246.

The former president is on track to reclaim key swing states, such as Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, which he won in 2016 before Biden turned them blue in 2020.

While Trump has a grip on the president, Newsom, and Harris, Biden would receive more Electoral College votes than Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in a hypothetical matchup, 359 to 179. DeSantis, once considered a pressing threat to Trump, has seen his presidential campaign decline significantly in recent weeks.

The poll from Stack Data Strategy, a research and strategy firm, was conducted from October 13 to November 3 with 15,205 respondents.

Clear Thoughts

The latest Stack Data Strategy poll reveals the sad truth for Democrats: even with Governor Gavin Newsom replacing President Biden on the ticket, they’d still lose to Trump.

Trump leads over Newsom and VP Harris, showing that the Dems’ alternatives aren’t winning any favors. With Biden’s low poll numbers and mounting issues, the Democratic Party seems to be scrambling for options.

Trump’s performance with key voter groups and potential to reclaim swing states should be a wake-up call for Democrats. They must reassess their strategy if they hope to retain the White House in the upcoming elections.

Look, this stuff is all speculative hot air, nothing more. Democrats are not worried one bit, because they have perfected the art of ballot harvesting, for which the GOP has no answer, whatsoever. Look at the 2022 gubernatorial fiascos in both Arizona and Oregon. Democrat candidates “won” out without really trying. In Arizona, Katy Hobbs won on election day by less than 10,000 votes over Kari Lake, who was well ahead in the polls in the weeks leading up to election day. Hobbs refused to even debate Lake, depriving voters from hearing from both candidates head to head. Same thing in Oregon where then Secretary of state Tina Kotek was trailing the Republican Drazen. No worries- Kotek won by about 4000 or so votes. Biden in 2020 supposedly beat 45 but by the slimmest of margins. Ballot harvesting, a.k.a. stuffing ballot boxes with multiple ballots, was responsible for all three races. See a pattern here?

How many people even know who he is related to? Paul Pelosi is his uncle, so now you know where he learned how to screw up California.
