CNN “Fact Check” Inadvertently Affirms Biden Impeachment Inquiry

Clear Facts:

  • CNN aimed to fact-check allegations on the Biden family’s business dealings and ended up confirming House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s claim that they received over $20 million via shell companies.
  • The House Oversight Committee highlighted multiple foreign payments to Hunter Biden and his associates, including a notable $3.5M transaction from a Russian oligarch in 2014.
  • Based on the accumulated evidence, Speaker McCarthy has called for an impeachment inquiry into President Biden for alleged influence peddling and bribery.

In a recent move by CNN, they set out to “fact check” claims circulating about the Biden family’s alleged foreign business dealings. However, it appears the result may not have been what they were aiming for.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy stated that the Biden family and their close associates pulled in over $20 million from shell companies. CNN, in their attempt to shed light on the situation, ended up substantiating McCarthy’s comments.

Here’s what they had to say:

“Claim: Biden family and associates got $20 million through shell companies ‘Bank records show that nearly $20 million in payments were directed to the Biden family members and associates through various shell companies,’ McCarthy said.

Facts First: This is true about Joe Biden’s family and associates, but there is no public evidence to date that the president personally received any money.”

Back in August, it was the House Oversight Committee who reported that they “identified $20 million in payments from foreign sources to the Bidens and their associates,” pointing out that Hunter Biden utilized Vice President Joe Biden’s stature as ‘the brand.’”

The Committee alleges that foreign oligarchs, notably from countries such as Russia and Ukraine, funneled millions into shell companies linked with Hunter Biden and his then-business associate, Devon Archer.

There’s a mention of a transaction in 2014 where “Russian oligarch Yelena Baturina wired $3.5M to a shell company associated with Hunter Biden & Devon Archer.”

Moreover, Archer, while speaking before the House Judiciary Committee, disclosed that Hunter tapped into his father’s position to “legally” wield influence over his business contacts.

There’s also a notable incident involving a Kazakh oligarch, Kenes Rakishev, who sent a significant sum to an account linked to what would eventually cover the cost of President Biden’s sports car. Documentation regarding this points to it being a “bribery payment,” underlining that “the law recognizes payments to family members to corruptly influence others can constitute a bribe.”

It’s reported that these payments from several oligarchs combined went beyond $20 million, distributed through a series of accounts associated with the Biden family.

Given the weight of these findings, Speaker McCarthy recently made the call for an official impeachment inquiry into President Biden, citing alleged influence peddling, murky business agreements, and potential bribery.

Although I don’t like CNN, I object to the suggestion that they were trying to invalidate the “claim” of the Oversight Committee. Another way of putting this is, I don’t see the need for the word “inadvertently” in Crystal Clear’s headline.

If Joe did not get the money SOMEONE DID. Put everyone in the family on trial. The money did not just magically appear. You can bet if it was Trump’s family, that is what would happen.
