He stated, “We have got to get down to the reality of the matter that we have had 400 ISIS smuggled people coming into our country that the Department of Homeland Security told us about last summer.”

The senator further emphasized, “And 50 of them, we don’t know where they are. We don’t know who they are or where they are. And we have to take that more seriously.”

This alarming information comes as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by border security and the potential threats from terrorist organizations.

Banks also pointed out that during President Donald Trump’s first term, significant strides were made in combating ISIS, including the eradication of the ISIS caliphate.

However, he noted that the terror group has been resurging, particularly after the Biden administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Confirming Banks’ claims, multiple U.S. officials have reported that the Department of Homeland Security believes these 50 individuals have scattered into 17 different states after crossing the border illegally.

The release of these illegal aliens was due to the absence of any immediate information linking them to terrorism at the time they were encountered by U.S. Border Patrol.

A significant challenge in tracking these individuals lies in the fact that many originate from regions where ISIS operates, often lacking the infrastructure to monitor terrorist suspects.

Moreover, even if such information were available, countries harboring these individuals might be reluctant to share it with the United States, perceiving it as an adversary.
