The Biden-Harris administration is facing criticism over a recent financial maneuver involving a substantial allocation of taxpayer money. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin uncovered a plan where $20 billion was parked at an external financial institution in what he described as a “rush job with reduced oversight.”

A significant portion of this fund, $2 billion, was awarded to Power Forward Communities (PFC), a nonprofit linked to Stacey Abrams, a known ally of the administration. This revelation has sparked questions about the legitimacy and oversight of such a large sum being granted to a newly established organization.

Zeldin expressed his commitment to safeguarding taxpayer dollars, stating, “When we learned about the Biden administration’s scheme to quickly park $20 billion outside the agency, we suspected that some organizations were created out of thin air just to take advantage of this.”

Founded in 2023, PFC was one of eight recipients of the grant under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund Program, part of the Inflation Reduction Act. Abrams, serving as senior counsel at Rewiring America, is actively involved with PFC, which also partners with other nonprofits founded by her.

The EPA justified the grant by emphasizing PFC’s commitment to reducing climate and air pollution and benefiting low-income communities. However, the decision has raised eyebrows due to PFC’s reported revenue of just $100 in 2023. Zeldin remarked, “It’s extremely concerning that an organization that reported just $100 in revenue in 2023 was chosen to receive $2 billion.”

The timing of the grant, awarded shortly after Abrams publicly supported Biden’s candidacy, has also drawn attention. Despite the administration’s confidence, PFC’s lack of experience in managing such large funds remains a point of contention.

Zeldin further highlighted the issue on social media, noting, “Stacey Abrams’ Power Forward Communities received $2 BILLION to be a pass through entity for Biden EPA’s $20 billion ‘gold bar’ scheme.”

This is not the first time Abrams-linked organizations have faced controversy. Recently, two groups she founded were fined by the Georgia State Ethics Commission in a significant election and campaign finance case.

As the situation unfolds, the lack of response from PFC and Abrams to media inquiries continues to fuel skepticism about the transparency and accountability of this funding decision.
