Clear Facts

  • Angelina Jolie’s legal team has filed new court documents alleging that Brad Pitt was physically abusive towards her prior to the notorious 2016 plane incident.
  • Jolie claims that Pitt attempted to stop her from publicizing his alleged abuse by refusing her the ability to sell her share of their French winery unless she consented to a comprehensive non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
  • This NDA was supposedly designed to limit any public discussion of Pitt’s “personal misconduct,” regardless of whether it was related to their shared winery, Chateau Miraval, or not.

In an unexpected development in the ongoing saga between Hollywood heavyweights Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Jolie’s legal team submitted fresh court documents last Thursday.

These accusations imply that Pitt was physically abusive toward Jolie well before the infamous 2016 plane incident that garnered global attention.

Adding to the drama, Jolie claimed that Pitt tried to manipulate her ability to sell her interest in their shared Chateau Miraval French winery.

He reportedly would only allow this transaction if she consented to sign documents that would prevent her from publicly discussing his alleged abuse.

“Jolie’s team leveled stunning allegations against Pitt, claiming he was pressuring them to sign an ‘onerous,’ and ‘expansive’ NDA aimed at concealing his ‘personal misconduct, whether related to Miraval or not.’”

Their notorious split in 2016 was accompanied by Jolie accusing Pitt of becoming abusive toward her and their children while on a private plane.

This marked the start of their extended divorce and custody disputes.

The documents further allege that the abuse started well before the incident on the plane.

“Pitt’s history of physical abuse of Jolie started prior to the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first instance he directed his physical abuse at the children as well. Jolie then promptly left him,” the documents highlighted.

Jolie’s legal team also suggested that Pitt was trying to legally bind her to silence about their relationship.

This followed his discovery that she had submitted a sealed filing containing “emails, summaries of the family’s expected testimony and other evidence” intended for their child custody dispute.

“Pitt declined to purchase Jolie’s interest when she would not be silenced by his NDA,” Jolie’s attorney, Paul Murphy, clarified.

He further stated, “By declining to buy her interest but then suing her, Pitt directly raised the question of why that NDA was so crucial to him and what he hoped it would suppress: his abuse of Jolie and their family.”

The court filing made on Thursday alleged that Jolie “never pressed charges” against Pitt.

It stated that “she believed the best course of action was for Pitt to accept responsibility and assist the family in recovering from the post-traumatic stress he caused.”
