- Senator Ted Cruz and author Stephen King engage in a Twitter feud, with King mocking Cruz over his 2021 trip to Cancun amidst a border crisis, which Cruz highlights as the “worst in history.”
- Cruz fires back at King, accusing the wealthy author of ignoring the human suffering at the southern border, including child abuse, sexual assault, and numerous migrant deaths.
- Despite King’s attempts to divert the conversation back to Cruz’s trip to Cancun, Cruz insists on addressing the border crisis, critiquing “rich Hollywood liberals” for their disregard of the people affected by their policies.
Renowned horror novelist Stephen King found himself in an online tussle with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) after attempting to ridicule Cruz over his 2021 trip to Cancun.
The Twitter back-and-forth, however, took a serious turn as the topic of the ongoing crisis at the U.S-Mexico border was brought up.
Cruz initiated the discourse with a clip from a Fox News appearance, stating, “I spend a lot of time at the southern border. I spend a lot of time with our border patrol agents. It’s never been remotely this bad. This is an invasion & our families are less safe because Joe Biden is president.”
The Texas senator brought to light the concerning fact that the Border Patrol has encountered 125 individuals on the Terror Watch List in 2023 so far, with more than six million illegal border crossings since President Biden took office – marking the “worst in history.”
King decided to pitch in with a comment referencing Cruz’s trip to Cancun, a time that coincided with a devastating freeze and power outage in Texas, stating, “You’ve also spent a lot of time in Cancun. That’s pretty south, right?”
Cruz, undeterred, fired back at King.
He stated, “Multi-millionaire Leftist @StephenKing sits in his mansion in Maine and laughs at the kids being abused & the women being sexually assaulted on our Southern border. He doesn’t give a damn about their suffering.”
King attempted to steer the conversation back to Cancun, with Cruz retorting by asserting his dedication to fighting for the rights of Texans and the neglect shown by “rich Hollywood liberals” towards the individuals affected by the border crisis.
“Am worth more than that (as the son of a penniless immigrant), but I gladly took a 90% pay cut to fight every day for 30 million Texans,” Cruz clarified.
He then questioned King’s refusal to address the border crisis: “Why does @StephenKing ignore EVERY WORD I said about the people hurt by the #BidenBorderCrisis? Because rich Hollywood liberals simply don’t give a damn about the people their policies hurt.”
The exchange stands as a stark reminder of the pressing and far-reaching implications of the border crisis and the politics surrounding it.
