Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signaled a readiness to engage with former President Donald Trump in efforts to conclude the ongoing conflict with Russia.

In a recent interview, Zelenskyy indicated his openness to a deal involving Ukraine’s rare earth minerals, which Trump has sought in exchange for continued U.S. financial support.

“These deposits are priceless, it is huge amounts of money, huge. That’s why we need to protect it,” Zelenskyy stated. He further added, “If we are talking about a deal, then let’s do a deal, we are only for it.”

The war between Russia and Ukraine has persisted for over two years, despite the Biden-Harris administration providing $175 billion in aid. However, the conflict remains unresolved.

Last year, Ukraine proposed a “victory plan” that included the idea of allowing allies to invest in its essential minerals.

Zelenskyy highlighted the strategic importance of Ukraine’s mineral resources, noting that Russia controls less than 20% of these assets. He warned of the potential for Moscow to form alliances with nations like North Korea and Iran.

“We need to stop Putin and protect what we have — a very rich Dnipro region, central Ukraine,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

Shortly after his election, Trump reportedly cautioned Russian President Vladimir Putin against escalating the conflict, emphasizing the U.S.’s significant presence in Europe.

Following a meeting with Trump, Elon Musk, and Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president expressed satisfaction, stating, “We will protect those trillions. We will prevent Russia from mining the minerals which will later be used to produce technologies for the three countries of the axis of evil.”

Zelenskyy underscored the importance of American involvement, asserting, “The Americans helped the most, and therefore the Americans should earn the most. And in rebuilding Ukraine, they should have this priority. And they will.”
